Clark, Barfield lead Gym Hounds to third-place finish

A pair of third-place finishes on the vault by Caroline Barfield and Autumn Clark along with a placement of fourth by Chloe Clark paced the Gym Hounds to a finish of third in the A-5A division during Saturday’s highly competitive meet hosted by Washington County.

Saturday’s meet, held at Elite Gymnastics, included teams from the Athens area plus regions such as southeast Georgia with Camden County being among the entrants.

Alexa Johnson was the top performer for Jones County in the JV meet, coming in first on the vault, fourth on the floor and in the all-around. McKenzie Ward was also fourth on the vault.

The middle school Gym Hounds were led by four first-place showings by Shelby Caves on the vault, beam, floor and all-around to go with finishing second on the bars. Addison Snook was second on the vault and beam, third on the bars, fourth on the floor and third in all-around. Savannah Kent was first on the bars, second on the floor, beam and all-around and third on the vault.

Jones County competes again March 8 in a meet hosted by Ola and Excel Academy with its next home meet at Elite Gymnastics being March 23.
