The top of the leaderboard was heavy on purple and gold at last week’s Middle School Athletic League Championship, as the Lady Hounds claimed a region title and the Greyhounds came home as runner-up.
The Lady Greyhounds dominated the front of the field, placing four runners in the event’s top six. That charge was led by Madison Marshall winning first, running 13:44. Annabel Marchand took second at 15:01, Raelyn Harris finished fifth via a time of 15:35, Lily Slaughter timed in sixth at 15:46, and Taegan Pierce took 10th at 16:42.
A trio of top-10 finishers carried the Jones County boys’ runners to their second-place finish. Easton Belshan and Colton Gordon took seventh and eighth, running 12:59 and 13:12. James Carden ran 13:21 to finish 10th.
