Man faces charges for aggravated child molestation

SUPERIOR COURT

A 36-year-old Jones County man is facing aggravated child molestation charges following the investigation of allegations that his alleged criminal behavior with the juvenile was ongoing for more than two years.

The charges are being investigated by Jones County Sheriff’s Office investigators Crystal Murphy and John Simmons.

In a March 7 interview, Simmons said the 15-year-old complainant disclosed the abuse during a session with a medical professional. As a result of the disclosure, he said David Clinton Smith was arrested Feb. 19 and charged with aggravated child molestation.

Simmons said evidence was being collected during the investigation that is confirming the details that came out during the session. The investigator said one of the crimes was alleged to have occurred in August at a motel in Milledgeville, and that has been verified.

Simmons said, while Smith was at the motel with the juvenile, he put an invitation on social media for a threesome, and Nattera Latroy Tucker responded. The investigator said Tucker also had sex with the juvenile. He said Smith later set up another meeting for the three of them at Tucker’s home in Milledgeville. Simmons said Tucker has been arrested in Baldwin County and charged with aggravated child molestation.

The investigator said it appeared the criminal behavior was disclosed after Smith lost interest in the juvenile in November and dropped her.

Simmons said the juvenile’s step-grandfather, who in now deceased, was arrested in 2019 and charged with molesting her.

He said the plan is to indict Smith in April.

Murphy said more charges are anticipated, including sexual exploitation, enticing a child, production distribution and possession of child pornography and possession of an altered firearm.
