Dennis “Wayne” Hagood, 77, of Jones County, passed away Wednesday, June 12, 2024. Funeral services were held at Hart’s Mortuary Jones County Chapel, Saturday, June 22, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. with Dr. Ron McClung officiating.
Private interment was at Elam Memorial Gardens.
The family greeted friends one hour prior to the service.
Wayne was a proud veteran of the U.S. Navy and served in the Vietnam War. He was a faithful member of Haddock Baptist Church where he taught Sunday School for many years. Wayne loved his family and enjoyed spending as much time with them as he could.
Wayne is preceded in death by his wife of 40 years, Barbara Collins Hagood; daughter, Sonya Lee Hagood; parents, James and Dorothy Hagood; brother, Kenneth Hagood; sister, Pat Jones; and brother-in-law, Alton Jones. He is survived by his daughters, Jessica Hagood of Brunswick, Georgia, and Jody Thompson (Russell) of Thomaston, Georgia; four grandchildren, Justice Childs, Emory Thompson, Eden Thompson, and Ellison Thompson; brothers, James “Jimmy” Hagood, Larry Hagood (Judy) and Lynn Hagood (Carol); sister, Gwen Marconi (Pat); and numerous nieces and nephews.
