An event to celebrate the shared joy as Christians and reflect on the goodness, faithfulness, and mercy of God is scheduled next week.
The dates of the 2024 Feast of Tabernacles Celebration are Friday Oct. 18 at 7 p.m. and Saturday Oct. 19 at 6 p.m. It is a free event at the W.E. Knox Center, hosted by the local nonprofit ministry, KBOMIN Inc.
Ministry leader Debra Hall said they had several of the events years ago but for various reasons turned their focus more toward prayer and Bible reading events.
“ This year, the Lord really impressed upon us that it was time to do it again,” she said. “It’s has really been a challenge in a number of ways, but it’s His feast and we know He will make it what He wants it to be. We just try to be obedient.”
The keynote speaker for the event will be Eric Sanderson of the 9th Hour Church in Boynton Beach, Fl.
Hall said the theme is HOLY and it will feature the blowing of the shofars, pageantry/drama, worship, teaching pageantry and drama consisting of individuals from various churches in Jones and surrounding counties.
Hall said the public is encouraged to attend.
“I hope people are hungry because it’s time to feast on the spiritual food from the table of the Lord. Join us as we celebrate God’s glorious presence with us,” she said.
Hall said the Feast of Tabernacles is also known as the Feast of Booths, the Feast of Ingathering, or in Hebrew, Sukkot. Considered to be the ultimate and most joyous feast on God’s calendar, it is an appointed time established by God for His people to tabernacle with Him. “It is a time of great joy and reflection on the goodness, faithfulness, and mercy of God, as He delivered the Hebrew people from their bondage in Egypt.”
The leader said the Feast of Tabernacles is not a Jewish feast reserved specifically for the Jewish nation. She said it is God’s feast and is for all who belong to Him, to celebrate His glory, to show our thankfulness for His past, present and future involvement in our lives.
Hall said the event has a scriptural basis in both the Old and New Testament.
KBOMINstands for Kingdom Building Outreach Ministries Intercessory Network.
The leader said it is a nonprofit ministry based in Jones County and is comprised of Bible believing Christ followers from various churches and backgrounds.
“ We are not a church, nor are we in competition with any church. We are an outreach ministry, and our purpose is exactly what each word in our name says,” she said. “The KBOMIN Team is made up of men, women and youth who love the Lord. We endeavor to operate in obedience to the work God has called us to complete.”
Hall said KBOMIN has hosted conferences, prayer events, public Bible readings, and other events for over a decade, and will continue to organize community events designed to minister to the Body of Christ in Jones County and the surrounding areas.
“We currently host four annual events: National Day of Prayer in May, Statewide Bible Reading in July, Cry Out America in September, and Read Thru the Bible in October. These events, which come only once a year, are held outside because we are not ashamed of the gospel of Jesus Christ. The community is invited and encouraged to participate in our outreaches,” she said.
