James Thurle Murdock, 89, of Emanuel County, Georgia, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 20, 2024, at a local nursing home. Born on May 14, 1935, in Hartselle, Alabama, James lived a full and impactful life, always guided by kindness, care, and love for those around him.
A proud veteran of the United States Army, James was deeply involved in his community. He was an active member of the Swainsboro Rotary Club and the Swainsboro Chamber of Commerce. His faith was important to him, and he was always involved in church activities.
Professionally, James dedicated 30 years to helping others as a chiropractor. He was also a talented writer, authoring two novels, The Blankenship Curse and Moochie’s Place. His creativity and passion for storytelling left a lasting mark on those who knew him.
Jim was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Mary Andrea Tibble Murdock. He is survived by his two sons, Mike Murdock (Noah) and Matt Murdock (Lynn); his grandchildren, Melissa Murdock, Julie Murdock, Ben Murdock, Wade Murdock, Nathan Greene, and Ashton Greene; and his siblings, Steve, Esther, and Maxine.
A Celebration of Life service was held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 23, 2024, at Gray Memorial Chapel and Crematory, located at 4378 Gray Highway, Gray, Georgia 31032. Rev. Dick Hoard officiated the service.
