Ruby Jean Johnson, age 71, of Gray, Georgia, entered into eternal rest on Saturday, November 2, 2024. Born on March 10, 1953, in Macon, Georgia, Ruby was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She was known for her kind heart, faith-filled spirit, and dedication to her family.
Ruby was the proud owner of RJ’s Coatings for many years. Her creativity shone in her love for scrapbooking and creating photo albums, capturing treasured family memories. A natural gardener with a green thumb, she found joy in planting flowers and nurturing life.
Above all, her family was her heart; she cherished her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and poured her love into taking care of her family, especially her beloved husband, Jimmy, to whom she was married for 51 wonderful years. An active member of Roundway Baptist Church, Ruby’s faith guided her life, and her kindness left a lasting impact on everyone she met.
Ruby is survived by her husband, Jimmy Johnson; her children, James (Kristen) Johnson and Melissa Barton; her grandchildren, Anna (Michael) Brown, Elijah Cruz, William Witt, Lucas Johnson, Brody Johnson, and Amanda Short; her great-grandchildren, Jaxon Brown and Joseph Brown; her sister, Brenda Scarbrough; and her cherished pet, Bandit. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ernest Richard Brice and Lillie Mae Adkins Brice, and her son, George Amos Johnson.
A visitation will be held at Gray Memorial Chapel and Crematory, 4378 Gray Highway, Gray, Georgia, on Friday, November 8, 2024, from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm, followed by a Celebration of Life service at 2:00 pm.
Reverends Billy Rogers and Eddie Windham will officiate the service.
