Jackson “Jack” Rawls Gandy, age 84, of Gray, Georgia, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, November 18, 2024. Born on June 17, 1940, in Meigs, Georgia, Jack was a man of deep faith, tireless dedication, and a heart filled with love for his family, friends, and community. A visitation was held on Sunday, November 24, 2024, from 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Gray Memorial Chapel and Crematory, 4378 Gray Highway, Gray, Georgia. A Celebration of Life service followed at 5:00 p.m., officiated by Rev. Darrell Burns. A private interment will be at Georgia Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery at a later date.
A retired Major in the United States Army, Jack proudly served his country with honor, completing three tours in Vietnam and earning the Bronze Star and Cross of Gallantry for his bravery and service. After graduating from North Georgia College, he dedicated himself to a life of hard work, operating multiple businesses throughout his lifetime. Jack’s entrepreneurial spirit and commitment to excellence were evident in everything he pursued. Jack was a devoted member of Sunshine Church in Round Oak, Georgia, where he nurtured his faith and cherished the fellowship of his church family. He was a member of the Macon Touchdown Club and a former member of the Macon Moose Lodge. A passionate fan of the Atlanta Braves and Georgia Bulldogs, Jack also enjoyed golf and was known for his sharp wit and dry sense of humor, which brought joy to all who knew him.
Jack is survived by his loving children; Sabra Bowden (Phillip), Melinda King (Doug), Michele Davis (Frank), Cindy Stamatis (Danny), and Tim Dove. He was also the proud grandfather of many beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren and a cherished uncle to numerous nieces and nephews. Jack was predeceased by his parents, Joseph Gandy and Clarice Willis; his brother, Dennis Gandy; and his beloved wife, Linda Gandy.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to the Methodist Home for Children and Youth, 304 Pierce Avenue, Macon, Georgia 31204.
