Martha Elizabeth Walston, 65, of Gray, Georgia, passed away peacefully on Thursday evening, January 16, 2025, surrounded by her beloved family at Atrium Health Navicent. Martha’s passing marks the end of a remarkable life filled with love, generosity, and pioneering achievements.
A celebration of Martha’s life was held on Sunday, January 26, 2025, at Gray Memorial Chapel. Family and friends are invited to visit with the family beginning at 2:00 p.m., followed by a service at 3:00 p.m. A reception will take place in the hospitality suite at Gray Memorial Chapel immediately after the service, where loved ones are invited to share memories and honor Martha’s legacy.
Martha was born to Walter Franklin and Rachel Reed Walston. She was preceded in death by her parents, as well as her sister, Joann Adkins, nephew Sean Fowler, and niece Dawn Johnson.
Martha was a trailblazer in the business world, founding Family Financial Funding Services, the largest funeral funding service in the state of Georgia. Her entrepreneurial spirit and tireless dedication were at the heart of her success, but her career was cut short after she was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis and later a brain aneurysm. Despite these challenges, Martha remained a vibrant and strong woman known for her humor, intelligence, creativity, and compassionate heart.
Martha will be remembered for her witty sarcasm, kindness, generosity, and loving nature.
She had an incredible ability to connect with others and was always ready to offer a listening ear, wise counsel, and a helping hand. Martha’s love for her family, her selflessness, and her ability to lift those around her will never be forgotten.
She is survived by her sister, Spring Davis and her children, Chase Walston and Dain Davis, as well as her brothers, Tommy Walston of Rome, Georgia, and his children, Lynn Weide (Chris), Tommie Norton (Don), Scott Walston (Terry) and their children, Daniel Walston and Anna Kathryn Walston, and her nephew, Michael Tyre (Tracie). She is also survived by numerous great nieces and nephews who will remember her with love and affection.
The family would like to personally thank the staff at Autumn Lane Health and Rehabilitation Rehab in Gray, Georgia, for their exceptional care and support during Martha’s final days.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Georgia Baptist Children’s Home, 505 Waterworks Road, Palmetto, GA 30268, in Martha’s memory.
