Harvey Everett Dover Jr., passed away on Tuesday, March 18, 2025, at his home surrounded by his loving family. A memorial service to honor Harvey will be scheduled at a later date.
Harvey was born on July 4, 1946, to the late Harvey Everett Dover Sr., and Ethel Cleo Miller. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Ruby Dover, sisters, Libby Dover Sauer, Betty Dover Finney and brother, Mike Pace.
Harvey served his country as a proud Marine and was honored with the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnamese Service Medal, Vietnamese Campaign Medal and Good Conduct Medal. Harvey retired from the Macon Police Department with twenty years of service. He was a member of the IBEW Electrical Union for twenty-eight years. His legacy will live in the hearts of those who loved him most as in inspiration of caring, loving, gentle and generous. Harvey’s courage, determination and resilience was instilled in him with his service as a Marine. Most of all, his ability to find the funny in life made him kind-hearted, genuine, and supportive.
He is survived by his wife, Sylvia Dover; sons, Wayne Dover, Rodney Grinstead; daughters, Angela Dover Meeks (Billy), Tricia Grinstead, and Kelly Ryals; grandchildren, Ruby Meeks, Griffin Meeks (Hannah), Chandler Meeks, Brady Meeks, and Luke Dover, Cheyenne Rogers, Sierra Price, Autumn Hosalla, Gavin Hosalla, Christian Ryals, Hunter Grinstead, Ryan Grinstead; great-granddaughter, Adley Price. He also has many nieces and nephews.
