Fiddler on the Roof Jr. presented April 4-6

Jones County Arts presents Fiddler on the Roof Jr., a musical adaptation of the classic Broadway story about Tevye, a humble dairyman living in the Jewish village of Anatevka.

Join Jones County Arts to experience this tale and witness the talents of its young performers within the community. Performances begin April 4 and 5 at 7:00 p.m. and April 6 at 3:00 p.m. at the W.E.

Knox Civic Center.

Tickets are available online at jonescounty. booktix.com and at the door before each performance. Reserved seating is $15 for all ages. General admission is $10 for adults and $5 for students.

As antisemitism rises in Czarist Russia, Tevye faces challenges to his traditional way of life as his daughters seek independence.

Performers Aaron Varnadoe and Melody Dixon shared their thoughts on participating in the musical and the learning experiences it has provided them.

“Tevye is one of the hardest roles I have ever played,” Varnado said. “He experiences many emotions throughout the show and portraying them isn’t easy. This is a role everyone knows, so I want to get it right.”

“Playing Golde is so different from my usual typecast. Being able to portray a more serious character is a fantastic learning opportunity that will help expand my range,” Dixon stated.

The students discussed their excitement for the show, encouraging the Jones County community to support the local arts.

“Fiddler has been a great experience for everyone. The tight knit cast is a community where everyone strives to make the show the best it can be,” Varnadoe said.

Dixon agreed and said she was excited. “Practices have been going well. I hope a lot of people come to see this amazing show,” she said.
