Bennie Freeman Goolsby, Sr., 90, of Gray, Georgia, passed away on Friday, March 28, 2025.
Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m., on Friday, April 4, 2025, at Hart’s Mortuary, Jones County Chapel, with Reverend Jason Dillard officiating.
The family greeted friends for visitation one hour prior to the service. Burial followed the services at Sunshine Methodist Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Sunshine Methodist Church Cemetery in Round Oak, Georgia, in honor of Bennie Goolsby.
Bennie was born in Hillsboro, Georgia, on September 18, 1934, to the late Thomas Harrison Goolsby and Sudie Freeman Goolsby. He worked at the United States Department of Agriculture for thirty- eight years. Bennie was a member of Gray Methodist Church. He also was a member of the Lions Club, and the Board of Equalization. Bennie loved Ms. Mary Etta and his family. He will be greatly missed.
Bennie is survived by his partner, Ms. Mary Etta Heath; his daughter, Brenda Chapman; his grandchild, Aaron Hammons; and his great-grandchildren, Ryker and William Hammons. He is preceded in death by his parents; his first wife of forty-three years, Madelyn Swindle Goolsby; and his children, Bennie Freeman Goolsby, Jr., Sudye Goolsby Hammons, and Michael Howard Goolsby.
