Aubrey Gene Miller, 85, of Gray, GA, passed away Monday, Aug. 29, 2022. A funeral service was held Friday, Sept. 2, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. Hart’s Mortuary at Jones County Chapel with the Reverend Andy Carter officiating. The family greeted friends from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. before the service. Burial followed the service at Baldwin Memorial Gardens.
Son of the late James Howard and Lula Miller, Gene was the youngest of 14 children. He was born in the Old Smith Place in Jones County and served as an active member of the Milledgeville National Guard from 1956-1963. Prior to retiring from Rheem, he worked in farming, naval ordinance, JJ Miller Timber Company, Allied Chemical, and J.P. Stephens. Gene was a hard worker, enjoyed and took pride in keeping his yard maintained, and loved his Ford trucks. He enjoyed working on cars with Bill Hassee.
Gene was preceded in death by his brothers; Jessie Miller, Sr., Smokey Miller, Johnny Miller, Thomas Miller, Doc Miller, and Gerald Miller, sisters; Teat Miller, Nellie Sentell, Sally Key, Lois Davis, Thelma Davis, Ida Pearl Davis, and Alice Watts.
Gene is survived by his beloved cat, Casey; his children; Kim Miller Jackson (Bill) of Wrightsville, Georgia, Ken Miller (Lori) of Wrightsville, and Lisa Bangcuyo; grandchildren; Will Jackson, Wes Jackson, Katelyn Jackson, Kristin Scott (Pratt), Chassie Brinson (Ryan), Jessica Bovard, and Charley Beer; 5 great-grandsons; mother of his children, Brenda Miller; sister-in-law, Shirley Owens (Willard); and special niece, Tonya Miller Cook.
Pallbearers were Will Jackson, Wes Jackson, Pratt Scott, Ryan Brinson, Fleming Anderson and Ricky Anderson.
