Buford Alvin Wells

Buford Alvin Wells, 80, a resident of Gray, Georgia, born on Oct. 11, 1943, in Augusta, peacefully passed away on Jan. 23, 2024. The family received friends on Friday, Jan. 26, 2024, from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., with a Celebration of Life that began at 2:00 p.m. at Gray Memorial Chapel. Interment took place at Cedar Ridge Cemetery, with Jerry Palmer officiating.

Survived by his devoted wife of 59 years, Betty Jane Wells, Alvin is also remembered by his loving children, Tracy (Mike) Ransom, Ken (Tammy) Wells, and Christy (Steve) Mills. Cherished grandchildren include Nic (Macy) Skinner, Jacob (Megan) Skinner, Sara Marchman, Ryan (Hailey) Ransom, Zach Ransom, Harlie Sharp, Gage (Harley) Sharp, Alex Mills, and Adam Mills. He is also survived by great-grandchildren, Ellee Jane, Adelynn, Blakely, and Leland. Alvin is fondly remembered by siblings, Helen Faye Smith, Dennis (Barbara) Wells, Charles (Sarah) Wells, and sisterin- law, Diane Owens.

Preceded in death by his parents, Pete and Virginia Wells, Alvin was a proud member of Gordon Lodge #240 F&AM and Gray Methodist Church. Alvin was passionate about his family, hunting, fishing, sports, the Masonic Lodge, Alabama Crimson Tide football, and hard work. An outdoors enthusiast and a simple man, he was also a fan of old westerns.
