Dekar Mobley Briggs Jr.

June 9, 2010 - Jan. 11, 2026

Dekar Mobley Briggs Jr., age 15, transitioned on Jan. 11, 2026, in Macon, Georgia.

He was born on June 9, 2010, in Tallahassee, Florida, to Dekar Briggs Sr. and Krystle Briggs.

Dekar Jr. was a sophomore at Taylor County High School, where he participated on the track team and with JROTC. He was known for uplifting and inspiring those around him with his sharp wit and comedic intuition. No matter who he encountered, he made sure they left him with a smile and a sense of happiness. Dekar Jr. had a deep love for music, gaming, sports, and drawing, and found great joy in spending time with his friends and family.

He also had a strong connection to his faith and attended church as often as possible, devoting himself to strengthening his relationship with God.

When you saw his face, you saw his father’s twin, his mother’s troubleshooter, and his sisters’ best friend. He spent countless hours working on cars and mechanical projects alongside his father and was always willing to help his mother around the house with daily responsibilities.

He fiercely protected and supported his sisters both physically and spiritually, faithfully attending his sisters’ at-home Bible Study each day. Dekar Jr. loved his family and God above all else. He was— and continues to be—a pillar of their happiness and strength.

Dekar Jr. is survived by his parents, Dekar Briggs Sr. and Krystle Briggs; his sisters, De’Kayla Briggs, De’Kiya Briggs, and De’Kaylan Briggs; grandparents, Gloria Bell, Darrae Moss and Lester King, and Robert Briggs (Irene Briggs); aunts, Jennifer Gillyard (Donald Gillyard), La’ Tara King, and Diana Williams (Dimitri Williams); great-grandparents, Marie Oliver (late Tommy Jane Moss) and Mary Jones; great-aunts, Valisa Gates (Bobby Gates), Wilhelmina Golden, Frankie Cook (Jerry Cook), and Elizabeth Burnette; great-uncles, Darryl Oliver (late Rosemary Oliver) and Elvis Moss; god parents, Joey Dunnell and Deidra Dunnell; special family friend, Terry Joe Collins; and a large community of relatives, friends and loved ones who will carry his memory forward. Dekar Jr. is preceded in death by great-grandparents, Earlean Mobley and Ed Mobley and aunt, Angel King.
