Dorothy Smith Bentley, age 98, of Gray, Georgia passed away on Sunday, April 23, 2023. A visitation for Dorothy was held Wednesday, April 26, 2023, from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Glen Haven Mausoleum Chapel, 7070 Houston Road, Macon, GA 31216, followed by A Celebration of Life at 2:00 p.m. Rev. Paul Wilkes officiated. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Dorothy’s memory may be made to PruittHealth Hospice, 6060 Lakeside Commons Drive, Macon, Georgia 31210.
Dorothy was born April 23, 1925, the daughter of the late Jewel Robinson Smith and Olin Smith and was the widow of Julian Robertson Bentley. She was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Lisa Humphries and her sisters, Sarah Black and Elise “Boochie” Coppock.
Dorothy was the former co-owner of Bentley’s Grocery.
Dorothy is survived by her children, Janice Partin of Gray, Gayle Moss of Lizella, Erlene Spacek (Russell) of Duluth, and Cathy Broach of Lizella; 8 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; brother, Eldred Smith (Mary) of Oglethorpe; several nieces and nephews.
