Dustin Wayne O’Brien

Dustin Wayne O’Brien, age 33, of Macon, Georgia, passed away peacefully in the early morning hours on Monday, February 24, 2025, at the home of his beloved Mimi, Linda Greene. Born on May 26, 1991, in Macon, Dustin lived a life filled with love, laughter, and an unbreakable spirit that inspired all who knew him.

Dustin was a proud graduate of Jones County High School, earning his special education certificate in 2009. He went on to shine as an avid Special Olympics athlete. Dustin was affiliated with many organizations including, Special Olympics Area 7 Program Macon-Bibb County Adaptive Program at the Delores A. Brooks Facility, ARC of Macon Activities and Summer Camp. Since the age of 16, Dustin, affectionately known as Dynomite, competed at both local and state levels in softball, bowling, tennis, basketball, sailing/kayaking, track and field, and bocci ball. His passion for sports was matched only by his remarkable talent, earning him over 60 gold, silver, and bronze medals, as well as numerous trophies.

One of his proudest achievements was earning his ‘Turkey’ badge in bowling—a moment he cherished and celebrated wholeheartedly.

Beyond his athleticism, Dustin was a man of many passions. As a member of the Shutterbug Club, 

the Action Kiwanis Club, and the Very Special Needs High Hopes Club at Mustard Seed, he found joy in photography, service, and friendships. He had a gift for lighting up a room with his charismatic and infectious personality.

Never meeting a stranger, Dustin’s warm smile and enthusiastic conversation left an indelible mark on everyone he encountered.

His love for karaoke and dancing meant he was always ready to perform at the drop of a hat, spreading joy wherever he went.

Dustin is survived by his loving mother, Gail Greene Morris; his father, Jesse Morris; and his brother, Kyle A.

Morris, all of Macon. He also leaves behind his cherished Mimi, Linda Greene of Byron; Aunt Cathie Burton (Jerry) of Byron, Aunt Laura Green (Tish) of Forsyth; Uncle Greg Greene (Barbara) of Warner Robins; and cousins, Drew, Ashlie, Bryton, Brandi, Andrew, Mandi, Luke, JoJo, Georgie, Nikki, and Layia. He is preceded in death by his grandfather, William “Billy” B. Greene, Sr.; and his uncle, William “Blake” B. Greene, Jr.

Family and friends were invited to celebrate Dustin’s remarkable life at Gray Memorial Chapel and Crematory, 4378 Gray Highway, Gray, Georgia 31032. Visitation was held on Sunday, March 2, 2025, from 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., followed by a Celebration of Life service at 4:00 p.m., conducted by Steve Ard, T.J. Hudson, Scotty Jones, John Saikas, Monte McCallum, and Steve Corkery. Dustin was a casual man. The family requested all visitors attend in casual dress.
