James “Jamie” Timothy Thornton II, 36, passed away unexpectedly on July 31, 2025.
Jamie was born on April 25, 1989, to Tim Thornton and Tammy Thornton, both of whom survive him. He was also deeply loved by his sister and brother- in-law, Jennifer and Tony Morris; his brother, Madison Hughes; his girlfriend Amanda Baker and his beloved nephew and best buddy, Kyler Morris.
He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Janelle and Stan Thornton (“Mimi and Papa”), who were the light of his life.
Jamie was known for his big heart, strong spirit, and the way he loved hard. He found peace in the outdoors, whether it was hunting, fishing, or spending time in the weight room. He had a way of making people laugh, and those closest to him will never forget his loyalty and his love for family.
He leaves behind a wide circle of extended family and close friends who will forever cherish his memory.
A memorial service was held on Tuesday, August 5, 2025, at 5:00 p.m. at Hart’s Mortuary, Jones County Chapel, with the Reverend Donnie Melton officiating. The family greeted friends prior to the service beginning at 4:00 p.m.
