Melvin H. Hubert passed away on Friday evening, August 18, 2023, at Chaplinwood Rehabilitation Center Milledgeville, Georgia.
A memorial service was held Saturday, August 26, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Gray Memorial with Chaplain LeeAnn Johns officiating. Melvin was born on January 4, 1938, to the late Terrell Eugene Hubert Sr., and Maris Jackson Hubert. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Thomas Russell Hubert, first wife, Jeannette Hubert, and second wife, Mary H.
Hubert.
Melvin will be remembered for his strong will, and work ethic which served him well in his careers. He began first, as a certified electrician, The Georgia State Patrol where he was Governor Lester Maddox’s personal bodyguard for several years, maintenance supervisor with Georgia Pacific and retired from the Georgia Kaolin Company. He had a passion and love for the outdoors, especially, hunting and fishing.
Melvin was an avid UGA bulldog fan, and the family ask that you wear black and red on Saturday in honor of Melvin.
His memory will be forever cherished by his daughter, Terri Batson, sons, Mel (Debra) Hubert, Dan Hubert, daughter by choice, Christy Foskey (Randy), sisters, Caroline Lankford (Ennis), Patricia Whitman (Doug), Marie Hubert, Charlotte Harvey (Dave), brother, Eugene Hubert (Judy), four grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren and his special loyal friend and companion Buddy his cat.
