Dec. 20, 1940 - March 2, 2025
Ralph “Larry” Avant, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully at his residence on March 2, 2025. Born on December 20, 1940, Larry was a man of unwavering integrity, quiet strength, and deep devotion to his family and friends.
In 1961, he married his beloved wife, Brenda Jacqueline Avant, with whom he shared a lifetime of love, laughter, and partnership. Their bond was one of strength and devotion, built on a foundation of mutual respect and shared values. Together, they raised their children and created a home filled with warmth, love, and cherished memories.
Larry was a hardworking man, a dedicated provider, and an entrepreneur at heart. A man of many trades, he was always willing to roll up his sleeves and take on whatever task needed to be done. His work ethic was unmatched, and his ability to problem- solve and build from the ground up made him a trusted and respected figure in both his personal and professional life. Whether working with his hands, running a business, or helping others, Larry took great pride in his ability to provide for his family and leave a lasting impact through his efforts.
Above all, Larry’s favorite title was “Papa” to his grandsons. He adored watching them grow into the men they are today and found endless joy in the laughter of his great-grandchildren. His legacy will live on through them and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Larry is now reunited with his beloved wife, Jacque, as well as his parents, Ralph and Lois Avant. He is survived by his children, Larry Todd Avant and Kimberly Ann Avant; his grandsons, Dustin (Kayla) Avant, Dylan Avant, and Bud (Chelsea) Ingram; his great-grandchildren, Emberly Avant and Hollis Avant; and his sister, Linda (Will) Willis.
A celebration of life was held on Saturday, March 8, 2025, at Gray Memorial Chapel at 1:00 p.m. with an hour prior for visitation.
