Dec. 31, 1968 - June 23, 2025
Tammy Lawing Pruitt, age 56, of Jones County, Georgia, entered into the arms of her Savior on Monday, June 23, 2025, at her home, lovingly surrounded by those who meant the most to her. A woman of immense faith, fierce love, and unshakable spirit, Tammy’s life was a melody of service, laughter, and resilience, one that touched hearts and inspired everyone who had the honor of knowing her. Born on the eve of a new year, December 31, 1968, in Macon, Georgia, Tammy carried the light of renewal and hope into every space she entered.
A devoted member of Mt.
Pleasant Baptist Church, Tammy not only walked in the Word, but lived it daily, serving others with humility and joy throughout her life and career. For many years, she answered a deep calling to care for others as a Registered Nurse, serving as Director of the Operating Room at Coliseum Northside and later as Dr.
Tim Stapleton’s dedicated Office Nurse. She was a healer not just in profession, but in presence.
Tammy had a heart that beat in rhythm with music, especially the timeless anthems of Styx, and she could dazzle anyone with her command of music trivia.
She loved the feeling of warm sand beneath her feet at the beach, the thrill of a concert under the stars, and the quiet joy of tending to her garden. She adored her pups, cherished laughter even in hardship, and held fast to a courage that was as radiant as it was unshakable. Tammy never sought pity, even in pain, choosing instead to laugh, to love, and to live boldly. To those who knew her best, Tammy will forever be remembered as a strong woman who loved her family fiercely and unapologetically. Her legacy is one of tenacity, wit, unwavering faith, and a selfless heart that never stopped giving.
Tammy is survived by her beloved husband of 38 years, William Pruitt; her devoted daughter, Kaylee Pruitt (Justin Smith); her siblings, Lou Snider (Dennis), Lynn Hardison, and Ronnie Lawing; as well as many nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends who carry her memory close. She was preceded in death by her loving parents, Dewey and Betty Ann Lawing, and her precious son, Zachary Pruitt, whom she now joins in eternal peace.
A Visitation was held on Friday, June 27, 2025, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church, 5455 Mt Pleasant Church Road, Macon, Georgia 31216.
A Celebration of Life followed at 7:00 p.m., officiated by Reverend Lee Griffin. All who loved Tammy were welcomed to attend and share in the joy and beauty of her life.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Tammy’s memory to Hope Lodge, Atlanta (1552 Shoup Court, Decatur, GA 30033 | 404-327-9200 | Hope Lodge Atlanta) or Jay’s Hope Foundation (1157 Forsyth Street, Ste B, Macon, GA 31201 | 478-238-6360 | www. jayshope.org), two causes close to Tammy’s heart.

Though Tammy’s earthly melody has come to a close, her song continues, in the lives she touched, the love she gave, and the strength she passed on.
