Terry Lee Burgamy, Sr., age 69, passed peacefully into the arms of his Lord and Savior on Sunday evening, August 3, 2025, at Emory University Hospital, surrounded by the love and comfort of his family, following an extended illness.
A devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, Terry was a man of deep faith, unwavering character, and warmhearted humor. He lived his life with authenticity and grace, what you saw in him was always genuine.
He had a special way of making people feel seen and valued. Born on May 19, 1956, in Milledgeville, Georgia, Terry was the son of the late Ulas and Evelyn Franks Burgamy. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy and later retired from the United States Postal Service. His life was a testament to loyalty, humility, and compassion, traits that guided him in both his service and his relationships.
Terry was preceded in death by his beloved son, Terry Lee Burgamy, Jr., whose memory he carried in his heart every day.
He is survived by his loving wife, Susan Burgamy; daughter, Evelyn (Genie) Dukes; daughter- in-law, Tonya Burgamy; grandchildren, Autumn (Kristina) Himmelheber, Jacob Burgamy, Craig Smith, Corey Burgamy, Tabitha Smith, and Joseph Bartlett; and great-grandchildren, Bentley Himmelheber, Paige Smith, Raelyn Burgamy, Ivey Smith, Bailey Himmelheber, and Jacob Burgamy. His legacy continues in their lives, shaped by the love, wisdom, and laughter he so generously shared. Visitation was held on Friday, August 8, 2025, from 6-8 p.m. at Gray Memorial Chapel. A service celebrating Terry’s life was held Saturday, August 9, 2025, at 2:00 p.m., at Gray Memorial Chapel with Rev.

Interment followed at Gray Memorial Gardens, located at 111 Greene Settlement Road, Gray, Georgia.
Pallbearers honoring Terry’s life included Joseph Bartlett, Cory Burgamy, Craig Smith, Jacob Burgamy, Paul Crosby, and William Burgamy, with Ben Griffin serving as alternate. Terry lived fully, loved deeply, and left behind a legacy of kindness, faith, and joyful spirit. He will be deeply missed but forever remembered by all who were blessed to know him.
