Nov. 10, 1947 - Jan. 28, 2024
Theron (Timmy) Morris Collum, age 76, passed away on Sunday, Jan. 28, 2024, due to complications following a heart attack.
His passing was sudden but peaceful. He was surrounded by his loving family and friends.
He is survived by his “son,” Justin Woodard, who may not be of his blood but most certainly was his heart. Justin’s mom, Sandra Daily and her husband John and their daughter Ally, were also Timmy’s dear “family.” Additionally, he leaves behind Donna (David) Collum Hayes and Darrell Collum, the children of his eldest brother Tommy Collum, who passed in 2012. And Scott (Leslie) Seagraves, the son of his younger sister, Judy Seagraves who passed in 2005. He also will be greatly missed by his aunt, Shirley Miller and her children Bobbi Birt and Terri (Hugh) NeSmith.
He is survived by friends too numerous to list. He loved these friends like his family and enjoyed spending time with them, when he could. One of his greatest joys was gathering with his family and friends at his annual barbeque. He loved cooking and sharing his delicious food with all those who attended.
It was always a day filled with good food, interesting conversations, laughter, love, friends and family.
Timmy was born on Nov. 10, 1947, the middle child to Thomas and Edith Collum.
He lived his whole life in Jones County, Georgia but adventured to many places during his years in the US Navy. Upon returning from his service, he worked and later retired from Grumman Aerospace. He proudly served his country and proudly worked on aircraft that protected our country and many others.
He traveled the world, but his heart and home were always in Jones County, Georgia. He was, by every definition, a good ole country boy with a heart of gold and a personality unmatched by anyone.
His many experiences gave him a unique view of the world and a vast amount of knowledge that was truly amazing. He loved sharing his thoughts and ideas with others and enjoyed hearing their views, especially through his detailed phone conversations. He had a sense of humor and a personality that endeared him to everyone he met. He never met a stranger. He was a kind and generous man, and his passing will be felt by the many people who were lucky to have met and known him.
As much as he loved his family, he probably loved his delightful pets even more. He possessed a wonderful gift to bond with his pets in a very special way and they were undoubtedly joined at the hearts. His passing will be greatly felt by his beloved pets. They, like so many of us, will feel lost without him.
To honor “Timmy”, his family received friends at Gray Memorial Chapel on Saturday, Feb. 3, 2024, from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. with heavy hors d’oeuvres. This was a casual event, because as we all know, he was a casual man.
Please share your happy memories of this unique and lovely man. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to either the Shriners or any reputable animal shelter. These two charities were near and dear to his heart.
Rest in Peace Timmy, knowing that you were truly loved and will be dearly missed. We are all so fortunate to have known you and shared in your life.
Keep them laughing in Heaven with your outrageous humor and absolutely incredible stories.
Gray Memorial Chapel is honored to be entrusted with the care of the Theron “Timmy” Collum family.
