Wilbur Lawrence Wright, II, age 82, of Macon, Georgia, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 8, 2024. Born on July 12, 1942, in Albany, Georgia, Wilbur lived a life full of faith, family, and service.
A dedicated member of Haddock Baptist Church, Wilbur was a man of deep conviction and joy, always eager to serve his church community. His love for holidays, family gatherings, and helping others was a testament to his generous and compassionate spirit. Known for his friendly nature and skilled hands, Wilbur could fix just about anything and brighten anyone’s day with his warmth.
He proudly served his country as a member of the United States Marine Corps and carried the values of honor and duty with him throughout his life. Wilbur retired after a 32-year career with the Macon Telegraph and News as a production manager.
Wilbur’s greatest joy was his family, and he took great pride in being a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Peggy Wright; sons, Chris Wright (Carole), Lance Hines (Sharon), Eric Wright, and Shannon Hines; daughters, Melanie Davis and Angela Ives (Jim); sister, Laura Elaine Fitzpatrick (Tom); nine grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.
Wilbur was preceded in death by his parents, Wilbur Wright, Sr. and Frances Bryan Rhodes Chambers, as well as his sisters, Eleanor Delores Boekout and Elizabeth Rosemary McDonald.
Visitation was held at Haddock Baptist Church, 180 Ethridge Road, Haddock, Georgia 31033, on Sunday, October 13, 2024, from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m., followed by a Celebration of Life at 3:00 p.m., officiated by Dr.
Ron McClung. Interment took place in the Haddock Baptist Church Cemetery. Military Honors were observed for the service of Wilbur Wright to his country as a United States Marine.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to Haddock Baptist Church.
