Mr. William Lester “Bill” Hodges, Jr., 76, of Gray, passed away Thursday, Dec. 21, 2023. Funeral services were at Hart’s Mortuary Jones County Chapel, Saturday, Dec. 23, 2023, at 11:00AM, with the Reverend Gary Thomas officiating. Entombment at Macon Memorial Park Veteran Mausoleum in Macon, Georgia followed the service. The family greeted friends one hour prior to the service. The family requested casual dress for the services.
Bill graduated from Willingham High School in Macon was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army. He was retired from the Jones County Sheriff’s Department and was serving currently as an officer in the Gray Police Department. Anyone who knew Bill will remember his passion for fishing.
Bill is preceded in death by his parents, William and Elizabeth Hodges, and brother, Jerry Wayne Hodges. He is survived by his best fishing partner and love of his life, Marilyn of Gray; daughter, Leslie Mitchell (Jonathan) of Macon; Dec. 21, 2023
granddaughter, Lindsey Bray of Gray; sister Elaine Mann (Phillip) of Macon; and numerous nieces and cousins.
