Brennaman signs with Young Harris College

When looking at the scoresheet in the past few years, there’s usually been one constant when it has come to the Lady Greyhounds girls soccer program. That Emily Brennaman was part of it.

Jones County’s top scorer, in a run that included a state tournament berth this year to follow up last season’s firstever postseason victory, will now be continuing her socce career.

Brennaman recently signed a scholarship to play for Young Harris College, which is located in the town of Young Harris in the north Georgia mountains near the Tennessee state line. The Mountain Lions compete in the Peach Belt Conference, which is comprised of Division II teams.

With that conference alignment, Brennaman will be able to play in front of friends and family, even when Young Harris is on the road. Current PBC teams in soccer include Georgia College, Columbus State, Albany State, Clayton State, Georgia Southwestern and North Georgia.

With the move, college will come with another adjustment: the time of year in which matches take place. In college soccer, matches take place in the fall rather than the spring.
