Former Jones County wrestling standout Nate Carr Jr. has another name to go by: head coach at Davidson College.
Carr was announced as the head coach of the Wildcats, a Division I program, on Friday as the 13th head coach in program history.
“I am extremely honored to be named the head wrestling coach at Davidson College,” Carr said in a press release from the school. “Thank you to our Athletic Director Chris Clunie for entrusting me with the opportunity to serve this 100-year-old program. I am truly excited to build an elite atmosphere at Davidson on and off the mat.”
He will come to the North Carolina campus following time as an assistant coach with Lock Haven University in Pennsylvania where in 2022 it won its first Mid-American Conference (MAC) title in program history. The school also won back-to-back Eastern Western League and Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference crowns in 2018-19.
“Nate has an incredibly impressive wrestling and coaching background, and we look forward to the tremendous impact he will have on our scholar-athletes, our wrestling program and our community,” Clunie said.
