With the gymnasium at Clifton Ridge Middle filled to capacity, fans and supporters were treated to all things basketball last Thursday as the Cougars hosted Gray Station in what turned out to be a pair of thrilling contests that also included cheer squads from both schools and Clifton Ridge’s pep band.
In the girls game, Gray Station held off a late Clifton Ridge rally as the Cougars closed to trailing by three points late before GSMS closed out the 20-17 win.
Clifton Ridge held on in the boys game, but not before a furious second-half rally by Gray Station, coming back from a 25-12 halftime deficit to tie things late before CRMS prevailed 44-40.
Both teams have a pair of scheduled games to close out the regular season. Clifton Ridge hosts Lamar County Thursday and plays Tuesday at Pike County with Gray Station going to Upson Lee Thursday and hosting Monroe County Tuesday.
