COMPETITION CHEER
In an arena with a seating capacity of around 8,000, all eyes are fixed on the mat at the center of the Macon Coliseum each year for the GHSA State Cheerleading Championships. In that arena filled with other cheer squads, parents, supporters and others, there is no greater spotlight in the state of Georgia in the sport of competition cheerleading.
Competing at state for the third year in a row, Jones County didn’t wilt in the white-hot heat of that spotlight on Friday morning in Macon as the Cheer Hounds posted a finish among the state’s top-10 teams in the GHSA’s AAAA classification.
