Jones County’s historic postseason run came to an end Friday afternoon in Carrollton, losing 66-54 to region nemesis Eagles Landing.
Even in defeat, the Greyhounds riveting postseason run showed a familiar form of grit with Jones County rallying from a 33-18 halftime deficit to trail by as few as three points in the fourth quarter before Eagles Landing held on.
Jones County’s postseason, its first semifinal appearance since the late 1970s, included three upset wins by the Greyhounds over Bradwell Institute, Tucker and Hiram.
Eagles Landing, which beat Jones County in all four meetings this season, advances to Thursday’s AAAAA state championship against either Kell or Chapel Hill.
