For the first time in 10 years, Jones County's wrestling program has a state champion.
Senior Arrie Martin wrapped up his career with a state championship on Saturday at the Clayton County Convocation Center, winning the 165-pound Class AAAA title with a 9-0 major decision win in the finals against Ethan Harrington of Cass. Martin advanced to the finals with a 6-4 semifinal victory against Skylar Pizzutiello of Woodland Cartersville.
Martin, who finished third in the state as a sophomore and second as a junior, is the program's first individual state champion since the second of Torrez Finney's consecutive titles in 2016.
