All-star baseball and softball seasons kicked into district tournament mode last week. The end result had multiple teams from Jones County earning berths in upcoming sectional tournaments with Jones County’s rookie baseball all-stars winning a district title.
The rookie baseball all-stars began play with an 8-7 win against Warner Robins American before other wins that included a 6-2 triumph against Dudley, 15-4 over Vine Ingle and 15-5 against Western Little League.
Jones County’s coach pitch baseball all-stars finished as runner-up, qualifying for sectionals.
Their wins included a 16-3 win against Western, 14-6 over Warner Robins American as well as a 17-2 rout of Dudley Blue. The Sandlot Baseball All Stars powered to the semifinals, topping Western Little League to advance.
The rookie and coachpitch all-stars will play in the sectionals June 7-9 in Columbus.
Softball all-star action saw Jones County’s sandlot and coachpitch all-stars finish as runners-up and punch their ticket to sectionals.
In sandlot, Jones County’s wins included a shutout of Vine Ingle 8-0 and edging Dudley 10-9. Wins by the coach-pitch all-stars included a 14-1 against Macon and besting Vine Ingle 15-9.
The coach-pitch all-stars will play in the sectionals on June 7-9 in Columbus with the Sandlot sections slated for June 14-16 in Warner Robins.
