With ill-timed injuries continuing, the Lady Greyhounds are now in a position to stage a huge upset of one of the state’s top softball teams to begin the GHSA State Softball Super Regionals.

Hounds speed into shot at region title with win over Dutchtown

Great things happened for the Greyhounds on Friday when the ball got into the hands of Tyler Stewart against Dutchtown. The result was not only a 35-28 win over the Bulldogs but also set up what will amount to a region championship on Oct. 27 at Warner Robins following this week’s open date.

Teldrick Ross helped MTSU snap a threegame losing streak in last week’s 31-23 win against Louisiana Tech. Ross’ five solo tackles led the Blue Raiders with his six overall being third on the team for MTSU, which played this past Tuesday at Liberty.

Finney wins under bright lights of Vegas

The proverbial lights were brighter, and it was the most adversity that Torrez Finney says that he has faced in his professional MMA career. “I had a really bad first round. It was the worst one I have had in my career, but I made adjustments and turned it around,” Finney said.

No. 1 Bulldogs run away from Vanderbilt, improve to 7-0

It wasn’t pretty, but a win is a win as top-ranked Georgia defeated Vanderbilt 37-20 to improve to 7-0. The Commodores were 32-point underdogs entering Saturday and gave the heavily favored Bulldogs a run for their money, trailing by 10 points late in the game, but couldn’t pull off the upset.

Lady Hounds gearing up with eyes on Columbus

A matter of one run in a highscoring affair ended up playing a pivotal part in the Lady Greyhounds’ positioning for the postseason. An 8-7 loss in Thursday’s regular-season finale resulted in a third-place finish in the region for Jones County.

Hounds pen Mustangs, remain tied for region lead

Ola’s clock-eating offense had no answer for repeated salvos by the Greyhounds on Friday. Unbeaten until the week before, the Mustangs were run out into the pasture early and often by Jones County and its barrage of big offensive plays in a 48-17 win.
