Volley Hounds get sweep leading into region play

Since the Volley Hounds began the season in early August, one of the major tasks at hand has been to continue growth and be rolling along when region matches begin.

Bulldogs bounce back from slow start to beat UT-Martin

Top-ranked Georgia’s seasonopening 48-7 victory over UT-Martin on Saturday had its highs and lows. The Bulldogs struggled out of the gate offensively but overcame the slow start to put up 41 points, with their final touchdown coming from the defense on a pick-six late in the fourth quarter.

Georgia prepares for Ball State

Georgia (1-0) will host Ball State (0-1) for its second game of the 2023 season on Saturday.The Bulldogs come off a 48-7 win over UT-Martin while the Cardinals lost to Kentucky 44-14 in the opening weekend of the season.

Greyhounds answer the call, overpower Dacula

With strong execution in multiple phases of the game, the Greyhounds took care of Dacula in Friday’s home opener at Greyhound Field, winning 44-19. Two areas where Jones County was unable to get much traction in the season opener against Northside were very present against Dacula.

Volley Hounds earn gritty win over FPD

In the tri-match format of volleyball, three teams compete at one venue, meaning that stamina and resilience come into play as a team has to play the second of a back-to-back match, sometimes later in the evening. The Volley Hounds dug deep in that setting last Tuesday against FPD and Northside.

Lady Hounds bounce back, maintain foothold near top of region

With the first half of the region schedule closing in, the Lady Greyhounds are again closing in as one of the region’s top teams. As this week began, Jones County was third in the region standings with a 3-1 region record, behind Ola and Union Grove.

Personal records set as Hounds, Lady Hounds finish in top five

There were few things for the Jones County cross country runners to be disappointed about coming away from Saturday morning’s Bob Blastow Invitational in Whitesburg in a field featuring multiple schools from larger classifications.

Gray Station puts up points in loss Gray Station Middle School came up just short last Wednesday against Upson Lee, losing 28-20. GSMS got a pair of early scores thanks to its opportunistic defense with a pair of touchdowns being set up by forced turnovers.
