Lady Hounds head to sectionals; Ridley bound for state

The Lady Hounds golf team qualified for sectionals last week with Ben Ridley also earning a spot in the state tournament by virtue of their showing at the area tournament at Forest Heights Country Club in Statesboro. The Lady Hounds had a score of 194 as a team, finishing fourth.

Fishing rodeo to be held Saturday

The Oconee Ranger District Fishing Rodeo will be held May 6 at Miller Lake, located on Blountsville Road in Haddock. The event will run from 8 a.m to 1 p.m. with the fishing tournament going from 8 a.m. to noon.

Shiver becomes new owner of Gray-8-Skate

Gray-8-Skate Family Entertainment Center is now officially owned by Joel Shiver, a young entrepreneur who has worked at the skating rink for seven years and plans to keep the roller rink the same entertaining place it has always been.

Finney dominates to win in main event

With an over capacity crowd in Chattanooga eagerly awaiting the main event, all eyes were on Torrez Finney to see if he’d keep his MMA record unbeaten. Going against Caleb Crump, Finney focused on the task at hand, winning in the third round Saturday night to run his overall pro record to 5-0.

Spring underway for Hounds

In both the early morning predawn light and the afternoon, spring practice got underway for the Greyhounds last week. Due to schedule conflicts that may exist for players and coaches, there’s an option for players to practice either in the morning or afternoon for most days of spring practice.

Tennis teams see season end in state tournament Both the Greyhounds and Lady Greyhounds saw their season come to an end last week in the state tournament. The Greyhounds lost 3-0 Monday at Greenbrier with the Lady Hounds falling 4-0 at Coffee.

Track teams fire off strong showings at region tune-up

Ahead of the region meet, set for this past Tuesday, the Greyhounds and Lady Greyhounds made last week’s region tune-up meet every sense of the event’s title, taking home nine first-place spots, including a sweep of both the boys and girls 100 meter events.

Hounds Bound for postseason

The Greyhounds will officially head toward Augusta to begin the postseason on Monday. Jones County, which wraps up the regular season Friday at home against Warner Robins, will travel to face perennial powerhouse Greenbrier on Monday. The teams will play in a doubleheader at 4 p.m.
