Hounds exorcise Demons for state playoff berth

Monday's game against Warner Robins carried its share of gravity before it began, with the Greyhounds seniors being recognized. It took on more weight by the time it was over, as a 14-0 win over the Demons in five innings clinched a spot in the state playoffs for Jones County.

Lady Hounds edge Ola, Greyhounds continue to show improvement

According to Greyhounds golf coach Lance Pittman, the closest competitor to Jones County in the region is Ola. The Lady Hounds rose to the occasion in last week’s match between the two teams, getting a pair of sub-50 rounds from Keegan Goins and Kimber Kent to win by two strokes overall.

Tennis teams qualify for state

After fighting through the region tournament, the state level of competition is next for Jones County’s tennis teams as both placed third last week. The Greyhounds began the week in the state tournament at Greenbrier on Monday with the Lady Hounds road swing taking them south play Coffee.

It was hardly a week at the beach for the Greyhounds during spring break last week. With a break in the region schedule, the Greyhounds stayed sharp, going head-on against prime competition. The stretch had a method to the madness.
