The Greyhounds are bound for the final four.  Jones County came up with defensive stops down the stretch, including in the final seconds to beat Hiram 56-53 on Tuesday. It was the Hornets first loss at home this season.  Jones County plays Eagles Landing at 4 p.m.

Greyhounds advance to Elite Eight

The Greyhounds are elite.  Jones County pulled off another postseason road win Saturday afternoon, dominating Tucker in a 64-50 win.  Jones County advances to the Elite 8 of the state tournament against Hiram. That game will be on the road Tuesday at 7:30 p.m.

Times set for next playoff games

The dates and times are now set for the Greyhounds and Lady Greyhounds in the second round of the GHSA state basketball tournament. The Lady Greyhounds will play at 6 p.m. Friday at Arabia Mountain, and the Greyhounds play at 4 p.m. Saturday on the road against Tucker.

Greyhounds advance in state tourney following upset win

On Tuesday night, the Lady Greyhounds staged a road upset in the first round of the state tournament. On Wednesday, it was the Greyhounds' turn to take down a region champion.   Jones County overpowered Bradwell Institute 65-44 on Wednesday, taking down the first-seeded Tigers.

Lady Hounds stun No. 1 seed, advance in state tourney

Following an upset win on the road Tuesday night, the Lady Greyhounds are heading to the second round of the GHSA state tournament. Jones County stunned No. 1 seed and fifth-ranked Ware County 44-36 on the road in Waycross, advancing to the second round.

Quest for chemistry, lineup continues for Lady Hounds

The meshing and continuing to work to find the right combinations continue for the Lady Greyhounds, who fell 9-1 last Thursday to an Ace Charter team that regularly makes a deep postseason push.

Youth-laden tennis teams swept by Ace

Having graduated a sizeable group of seniors last season, new faces are stepping into larger roles this season for the Greyhounds and the Lady Greyhounds tennis teams. Both fell 4-1 last Wednesday to Ace Charter in a match held at Macon’s John Drew Smith Tennis Center.

ALUMNI UPDATE

Destin Howard picked up a win for the Lady Bulldogs during Saturday’s Red & Black Showcase, a 9-7 victory for Georgia. Howard pitched an inning and a third in relief, holding St. Johns without a run and one hit in that span.
