BONAIRE – Jones County wrapped up its non-region schedule last week against Houston County, leading into this week’s start of region play. And odds are good that the competition that the Greyhounds face won’t match what Jones County encountered last Thursday at Houston County.

Lady Hounds snap streak against Peach County

The Lady Greyhounds picked up what could be a well-timed victory on Friday. Needed momentum as region play nears, Jones County snapped a five-game winless streak last Friday, posting a shutout of Peach County 3-0.

Signs of growth continue for Hounds on cusp of region play

The Greyhounds continue to be encouraged by signs of progress heading toward Friday’s region opener at Locust Grove. The marked improvement of a young team taking on a new on-field strategy continued last week in a pair of 2-0 losses to Peach County and Jackson.

Tennis teams pick up first victories of the season

Both of Jones County’s tennis teams picked up their first win of the season last week, beating Northside-Columbus 4-1 in both matches.

Hounds, Lady Hounds pick up early victories

Success on the links found both the Greyhounds and Lady Greyhounds last week, as both teams swept GMC Prep and the Greyhounds also winning a match against CFCA and Mount de Sales by an overall score of 10 strokes.

STONECREST – Being a fourth seed can place a team in an uphill battle going into postseason tournaments such as basketball in the state of Georgia. Not only does it call for having to play on the road, but it also means opening the postseason against the top seed from that opposing region.

District Title for 12U Basketball All Stars

Jones County’s 12U Basketball All Stars captured the district title over the weekend. With the win, they will now advance to the state tournament.
