New athletic director named at BOE meeting

The final Board of Education meeting of 2022 ended with the hiring of a new athletic director for the district.
The unanimous vote to hire Chad Alligood as the Athletic Director for the Jones County School System filled the vacancy left by the previous director, Barry Veal.

When a team hosts a holiday basketball tournament, it usually involves extending the long arm of kindness and hospitality.
That did not entail on the court for the Lady Greyhounds during Monday’s opening day of the Morris Bank Christmas Tournament.

Alligood excited about role as athletic director

At some point in the future, Chad Alligood envisioned swapping being a football coach for the role of being a full-time athletic director.
That time, not to mention the opportunity, arrived last Tuesday for Alligood, who was announced by Jones County High School as its new athletic director.

Little by little, the wrestling season is building toward Jan. 7 for the Greyhounds. That’s the date of the region duals, where how Jones County performs as a team will decide its spot in the state dual preliminaries the following weekend.

Fryer named secondteam All-American
Another postseason honor has come the way of former Jones County standout De’Queze Fryer. A senior tight end this past season for LaGrange College, he was named to the AFCA Division III All-America Second Team last week.
He has also been named to the D3Football.
