Jones County’s cheerleading programs hosted their Friends and Family Night on Oct. 17, offering friends, supporters and community members a glimpse at teams from across the school system. Senior Cheer Hounds were also recognized.

Bulldogs turn focus to Florida

No. 1 Georgia had a bye last week ahead of its upcoming matchup with Florida. According to head coach Kirby Smart, the Bulldogs have shifted their focus toward the Gators. “It’s another exciting matchup with these guys in Jacksonville,” Smart said on Monday.
The JCHS Cheer Hounds brought another trophy back home last week, claiming a first-place trophy. The most recent triumph was at Vidalia, as the performance kept Jones County unbeaten in competitions this year. Prior to the region meet on Nov. 5 at Houston County, Jones County competes at Saturday’s McIntosh Chief Classic. CONTRIBUTED

Both the Greyhounds and Lady Greyhounds will offer fans a season preview on Saturday, Oct. 29, when they host the Purple & White Game at noon. Entry is free with the donation of a peanut-free snack. Both teams will host Peach County for a scrimmage on Nov. 5 prior to the Greyhounds playing Nov.

HAMPTON – Any rumors of the demise of the Greyhounds region title hopes appear to have been greatly exaggerated. A week after being upset at home by Ola, the Greyhounds unleashed a stunner of their own, going on the road Friday to upset second-ranked Dutchtown 24-7.
