Bulldogs focus on improvement for bye week

Georgia has been a model of consistency under head coach Kirby Smart since he arrived on campus almost seven years ago. Still, even as the Bulldogs are ranked No. 1 nationally and remain undefeated after seven games this season, he knows his squad can improve.

Georgia offense overpowers Vanderbilt

No. 1 Georgia had no problem moving the ball against Vanderbilt on Saturday.The Bulldogs compiled a seasonhigh 579 yards of total offense— including 295 yards in the first half alone—enroute to a 55-0 victory over the Commodores. Georgia scored on four of their five drives in the first half.

Cheer Hounds set high marks at East Laurens

Doster leads Mercer to record-setting win

Led by former Jones County standout Laney Doster, Mercer’s women’s cross country team dominated last week at the USC Upstate Invitational, winning first in a 14-team meet that included conference opponents. Doster ran a time of 18:40.

Championship meet set Saturday

After weeks of striving and working to be ready to go at the right time, the time arrives this weekend for the Greyhounds cross country teams. What’s more is that it’ll be home.

Middle schoolers compete in state meet

Jones County’s middle school runners faced the best competition that the state has to offer this past Saturday, running at the Middle Georgia State Cross Country Championships.

Basketball sign up ongoing Registration is ongoing for basketball with the Jones County Parks & Recreation Department. The preseason clinics for those signed up will be on Oct. 23 and 30 from 3:30-4:30 p.m. for ages 5-8 and 4:30-5:30 p.m. for ages 9 to 15. Tryouts are from Oct. 26 to Nov.
