There’ll be a new head coach leading the Greyhounds baseball program next spring. Mike Paulk, who has been on staff with the program since the 2015 season with duties that have included handling the program’s pitchers and catchers, has assumed the duties of head coach.

Urgency picks up as Lady Hounds resume workouts

Like a light at end of it a long tunnel, the urgency picked up speed for the Lady Greyhounds on the softball field on Monday. With the second GHSA dead week having come and gone, the Lady Hounds resumed their voluntary summer workouts with Monday’s prime focus being in the batting cages.

Camps of yesteryear

I recently took my 11-year-old son to Shell Island Fish Camp. Now regular readers will recognize the name and I dare say many of you have probably been there. I made my first trip there in 1981 or 1982. I don’t remember.

Volley Hounds wasting no time working toward season

The GHSA’s second dead week ended on Monday, and the Volley Hounds wasted no time making their way to the JCHS Gymnasium for the next step of their offseason work.

JCYFL sign ups underway

Sign ups for Jones County Youth Football (JCYFL) are underway with a deadline of Aug. 1. Opening day is Sept. 17 with picture day on Sept. 18. Mandatory tryouts will take place Aug. 7 at 2 p.m. for the rookie/mite division and 4 p.m. for bantam/ junior.
