Jones County’s Gore signs with the Mets

Jones County native Terrance Gore has a new home in the major leagues, and it’s worth another team within the National League Eastern Division. Gore, who appeared on the Braves postseason roster last year, signed a minor-league deal with the New York Mets last Wednesday.

Boys soccer picks up all-region honors The Greyhounds boys soccer program took a step forward within the region this past season. Coaches throughout the region apparently took notice as multiple Greyhounds were included on the recent all-region list.

Softball team advances to South Sectional

LIZELLA – Jones County's softball all-stars in the age 7-8 division made their way to the district tournament last week. By virtue of a handful of wins that advanced them to the tournament finals, Jones County will play in the South Sectional scheduled for next weekend.

Baseball teams compete in district tourney

District play began last week for local baseball all-star teams, with both striving for not only a district title but also a berth in state sectionals.

The Greyhounds boys basketball program welcomed budding hoopsters in the JCHS Gymnasium starting Monday of this week for their annual Greyhound Basketball Camp.

Three Diamond Hounds named All-State

Georgia Dugout Preview, a publication that each season recognizes the state’s top baseball players through team rankings, coach of the year awards and all-state team listings, has recently included for Greyhounds in its all-state team rankings.

Summer Camp: softball
