Finney moving up to take on next opponent

Ever since winning his professional mixed martial arts (MMA) debut in February in Macon, Torrez Finney has been looking for his next chance to step back into the arena of competition. After weeks of searching, that time has arrived.

Five JCHS storylines to watch next season

With the golf and baseball seasons having wrapped up statewide, teams in Georgia are now officially moving ahead toward next season. In Jones County, things are no different. Following the first of the summer’s two dead weeks from May 30 to June 5, summer workouts can resume.

Gym Hounds recognize award winners

Following a season in which the Gym Hounds saw record participation, they recently honored and celebrated the past season with the presentation of awards.

Whenever any group of seniors graduates, they move on having left an indelible mark on the program that they have been a part of. Sure, left behind are memories of the thrill of victories, agony of defeats and all the other moments in between.

Wold signs on with Denmark Tech

As the basketball season went on, Matthew Wold went from usually being the first player off the bench and sparking the Greyhounds to stepping up in a greater role when needed. Coaches on the collegiate level appeared to take notice.

Lady Hounds place seventh in state tourney

The Lady Greyhounds ended their season as one of the top teams in the state. After previously earning a berth in the GHSA Class AAAAA Girls State Tournament, Jones County powered its way to an overall finish of seventh at Okefenokee Country Club near Waycross.

Hounds, Lady Hounds spring toward success

This past spring, as the seasons changed, it also harkened forward the Greyhounds spring sports season. In that setting, various teams strived to take a next step forward in multiple ways. Baseball All season long, the Greyhounds carved themselves out to be a major factor in the region race.
