The Greyhounds showed a continual closing of the gap against teams throughout the region last week, dropping a pair of matches 3-1 to both Locust Grove and ELCA.Last week’s pair of two-goal losses came after four previous region matchups in which JCHS lost by an average of 6.5 goals.

As far as girls soccer goes for Jones County, Union Grove has been every bit of a dragon. A goliath standing in the way.Last Tuesday, the Lady Greyhounds picked up their slingshot and took down that giant, scoring a go-ahead goal in the final 12 minutes to win 2-1.

Watts, Dennis take first at International City Relays

Both in distance running and field events, the girls’ portion of last week’s International City Relays ended with first-place honors for the Lady Greyhounds. In the 3200 meter-run, Tanner Watts led a contingent of four JCHS runners in the top five, running a 12:51.81 to win first.
