part in a 40-23 win over Methodist University earned him USA South Conference Defensive Player of the Week and Defensive Rookie of the Week honors. In the win, Smith had eight tackles, 3.5 tackles for a loss, three sacks and a fumble return for a touchdown. LaGrange hosts Maryville on Saturday.

TUSCALOOSA – Georgia’s Carson Beck tossed an interception in the end zone with under a minute left in Saturday’s top 10 matchup against Alabama, signifying the Crimson Tide’s 41-34 win.The Bulldogs quarterback wasn’t sharp against Alabama, turning the ball over four times in the loss.

Lady Hounds edge Perry ahead of home stretch within region

Last Wednesday brought two regular postseason mainstays to the softball diamond in Jones County and Perry. After JCHS won a one-run game earlier in the season, the Lady Hounds did the same on the road, scoring three extra-inning runs and holding off a two-run rally by the Panthers to win 10-9.
