The symbolism of seeing a bald eagle resting in a tree above a veteran’s grave and an American Flag at an entrance to the Veterans Memorial Parkway in Jones County was not lost on Dana Brooke Leavins who could not resist taking a picture of the scene. “It was honestly a moment to reflect on our country and the sacrifices we make as soldiers,” Leavins said. The grave is that of Ed Morgan, a WWI soldier who lost his life May 18, 1918. Morgan was a private with the 71st Company 157 Deport Brigade. Photo by Dana Brooke Leavins
