Former JCHS star De’queze Fryer has been named a first-team All-American by D3Football.com, one of two tight ends named to the listing. Fryer is coming off a season in which he had 66 catches for 944 yards and 11 touchdowns. Through three games this year, Fryer has nine catches for 110 yards and two touchdowns which ties him for the team lead. Lagrange, 1-2 on the season, plays Saturday at NC Wesleyan.
Middle Tennessee State, which was paid $1.5 million by Miami to play the Hurricanes on Saturday, stormed into south Florida and stunned the Hurricanes in a convincing 45-31 win.
Former Greyhound standout Teldrick Ross played a big role, having eight tackles that tied for most on the team in addition to a pass breakup for the Blue Raiders, who are now 3-1 and begin conference play next week against UTSA.
Despite Jontavis Robertson having two catches, one of 38 yards, Duke dropped a 35-27 decision to Kansas on Saturday in a battle of unbeatens. Robertson also returned two kicks for 59 yards.
The Blue Devils (3-1) play Virginia next week prior to playing at Georgia Tech the week after.
