Jones County’s favorite sports broadcaster will be back again this year with Jones County High School alumnus Adam Geene broadcasting the majority of the Greyhounds games for the 2026 football season.
This will be Greene’s ninth year in the broadcast booth, and he will be in good company. The local broadcasts began in 2018 after he pitched the idea to good friend and fellow alumnus, Kyle Sears.
After Sears had to bow out in 2023, Greene partnered with Todd Bailey when SportsMic took over broadcasting the games.
Greene, who graduated from JCHS in 2006, said Bailey got the opportunity to broadcast for his home team, Northside.
“I’m sad not to have him in the booth with me, but there is nothing like calling games for your alma mater,” he said.
Greene said he will miss Bailey’s expertise, but he is excited about the prospect of bringing what he calls a “cast of characters” to join him in the broadcast booth. He said that includes his father, Al Greene, who has worked behind the scenes in the past and his mother, Anita Skinner, who has continued to be a cheerleader for this journey. “For nearly all of the home games, they both want to be up there with me in the press box. Kind of makes me cry to think about it because I’m very lucky of the support that I get from them and my wife, Hannah, along with the rest of the community,” he said.
Greene said he also plans to bring others into the booth who have shared their interest in assisting him with the broadcasts.
In an Aug. 14 email, Greene talked about the coming season. He said SportsMic provides excellent coverage of the games, and the app is easy to download to phones or access on the SportsMic website.
“We’ll have coverage of the Valdosta game, but it’s going to be one of two games I will not be able to make due to prior commitments. For those two games, SportsMic is providing two veteran broadcasters, and they are going to absolutely get a show because the atmosphere in Jones County for that Valdosta game is going to be electric,” he said.
Greene said he committed to the broadcasts before he and Hannah bought their first home in Tucker, which means he will be commuting to the games.
The broadcaster said he recently had the opportunity to interview head coach Justin Montgomery, and the players that he got to interview have definitely bought in.
“You can just feel how confident they are, and I already know they are going to give me some good calls while I’m up in the booth this year.”
Greene said he finds it hard to believe he is starting his ninth year broadcasting the games.
“I always get nostalgic for it before the season. The first few games I’m on top of a press box soaked in sweat, wondering why I’m doing this. Then the Hounds score, and I’m yelling in my microphone because I’m so pumped and I quickly remember why I love doing this,” he said. “I was just in town the other day, and had a few people stop me to ask if I was covering the games. It’s a great feeling to be supported by a community that, while I may no longer live in, I’ll always be a part of. It’s what makes Jones County so special.”
