Robert Buckey is the local veteran of the week. He is a U.S. Air Force retired colonel and spent 30 years as a fighter pilot, with over 4,000 hours of flying time in fighters. He is a veteran of the Cuban crisis, the Korean Publa crisis, and flew 142 combat missions during the Vietnam War.
Buckey’s awards include the Air Force Legion of Merit, the Distinguished Flying Cross, and the Air Medal with silver and five oak leaf clusters. He wrapped up his 30-year career with U.S. Central Command.
